Reviving place names IT is pleasing to hear from new Liberal Aboriginal Affairs Minister Jaquie Petrusma that her Government is firmly behind dual naming. The minister also understands it makes sense to revive original names of places. But why the Government would shy away from nipaluna (the name of the area Hobart was built on) and embrace kunanyi (original name of Mt Wellington) is hard to follow. Michael Mansell Read more

nipaluna is the name of the country in which the city of Hobart sits.     This was the name known by the Aboriginal people of the south east.
