The Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre is seeking a skilled and community-focused Cancer Liaison Officer to support the wellbeing of Aboriginal people across Tasmania. This position plays a key role in improving cancer outcomes, strengthening cultural safety in cancer care, and supporting community members and families throughout the cancer journey.

Key Responsibilities

· Support the development of culturally safe and responsive cancer programs and policy

· Advocate for improved cancer care and access to services for Aboriginal people

· Work with TAC clinical teams, ACCHOs, NACCHO networks and mainstream providers

· Provide information and support for cancer prevention, early detection and health promotion

· Assist community members with smoking cessation and access to nicotine replacement therapy

· Contribute to national Communities of Practice

· Maintain reporting, evaluation and continuous quality improvement requirements

About You

To succeed in this role, you will have:

· Skills and experience in Aboriginal Health Work, community development, health promotion, public policy or similar

· Knowledge and understanding of the Tasmanian Aboriginal community

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

· The ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal people

· Experience working in health, community development or the ACCHO sector (highly regarded)

· The ability to contribute to program and policy development with initiative and sound judgement

Remuneration and Benefits

· $99,000 – 107,000 per annum + Salary Packaging

· 16% superannuation
