Invasion Day

Support us to urge the Australian Government to declare the 26 January a day of mourning, and not a date to celebrate.

Invasion Day, Nipaluna, 2023

Captain Arthur Phillip landed on Australian soil with the first fleet of British Ships. He raised the British flag at Sydney Cove to claim NSW as a British Colony on 26 January 1788. This day marks the beginning of a long and brutal colonisation of our people and country.

Every year, we call on the Australian Government to declare 26 January a Day of Mourning.

Over 7,500 people across Lutruwita/Tasmania agreed in 2023.

Thanks to all who joined the rallies to call for an end of celebrations on this date.
