The Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre (TAC) is seeking an experienced and committed Aboriginal Health Trainer and Assessor to deliver accredited and non-accredited training across TAC’s Registered Training Organisation (RTO) programs, including the Aboriginal Health Worker qualification.

This role plays a critical part in strengthening culturally safe, practical and high-quality training that supports skill development, confidence, workforce pathways and improved health outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Working closely with the Manager RTO, Aboriginal Health Unit, Trainers and industry partners, you will deliver training and assessment, support learner progression, and ensure strong compliance with VET and RTO standards.

About the Role

You will:

· Deliver accredited and non-accredited training aligned with TAC strategies and RTO requirements

· Conduct assessment and maintain compliance with VET legislation and Standards for RTOs 2025

· Support learner engagement, wellbeing, competency attainment and completion

· Deliver flexible learning including face-to-face, workplace-based and on-Country training

· Undertake practical field assessments, workplace visits and industry engagement

· Maintain accurate, compliant training and assessment records

· Contribute to RTO compliance, audit readiness and continuous improvement

· Work collaboratively across TAC to support organisational and funding outcomes

About You

You’re someone who is passionate about Aboriginal health, education and workforce development. You’ll bring:

· Extensive clinical experience as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner and/or Registered Nurse

· Minimum five (5) years’ experience in an acute or First Nations health care environment

· Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent)

· Demonstrated experience delivering VET training and assessment

· Strong organisational, administrative and digital literacy skills (Microsoft 365, LMS systems)

· Proven ability to build respectful relationships with learners, staff and industry

· A strong commitment to Aboriginal self determination and culturally safe practice

Desirable

· Experience working in an ACCHO and/or RTO

· Understanding of trauma informed practice

· Experience in workforce development or grant funded programs

· Relevant industry or specialist health qualifications

· Current First Aid certificate
