Make a difference in Aboriginal education and workforce development

The Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre (TAC) is seeking an experienced and passionate RTO Training Officer – Trainee Support to join our Registered Training Organisation.

This position plays an important role in supporting Aboriginal learners undertaking accredited training programs, including the Aboriginal Health Worker Traineeship Program. Working alongside Trainers, employers and trainees, you will help create culturally safe, supportive pathways that enable learners to succeed in training, employment and community.

About the Role

You will:

  • Provide culturally safe, trauma-informed support to trainees.
  • Support learner wellbeing, engagement and retention.
  • Monitor attendance, progression and training outcomes.
  • Assist learners to complete assessments and workplace learning requirements.
  • Coordinate trainee travel and accommodation where required.
  • Conduct workplace, community and training site visits.
  • Maintain compliant training records and learner data.
  • Contribute to quality improvement, reporting and audit readiness.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience working effectively with Aboriginal people and communities.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Experience in VET, education, workforce development or a similar environment.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Confidence using Microsoft 365 and online systems.
  • The ability to support people experiencing complex barriers to participation and learning.

Desirable

  • Experience within an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation, ACCHO or RTO.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice.
  • Experience in workforce development or grant-funded programs.
  • Relevant qualifications or industry experience.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
