At the Palawa Employment Program, we are dedicated to helping our community/mob in Lutruwita/Tasmania achieve their goals and thrive in the workforce. We will work with you to connect your aspirations with real opportunities, providing the tools, guidance, and encouragement you need to succeed. 

The Palawa Employment Program supports Tasmanian Aboriginal people in finding their own career paths by offering tailored assistance and partnering with employers who value and provide culturally safe workplaces. 

Whether you’re entering the job market for the first time, looking to gain further training, or seeking support to build on your current career, we’re here to assist you every step of the way. Together, we can create lasting change, one career move at a time. 

We are a statewide program, servicing Nipaluna/Hobart, Launceston on Kanamaluka, Pataway/Burnie, and Limilinaturi/Devonport. 

We run a Job Club Program 

Our Job Club Program offers group support and peer networking across various locations, including on-country experiences. We discuss potential challenges and help you develop strategies to overcome them. Through group interaction, we foster accountability and motivation to keep you on track. 

Job Skills Support 

  • Resume & Cover Letter Assistance – We help you craft professional and compelling applications. 
  • Interview Preparation & Mock Interviews – Gain confidence through practical coaching and feedback. 
  • Job Application Strategies – Understand how to navigate selection criteria and improve your job search approach. 
  • Confidence Building & Ongoing Support – We provide coaching to keep you motivated and self-assured. 
  • Access to Support Services – If needed, we can connect you to mental health and stress management resources via TAC programs, helping you combat job search stress. 

Employer Engagement & Networking 

We connect you with employers, recruiters, and industry professionals, ensuring they offer culturally safe workplaces where you can thrive. 

Goal Setting & Progress Tracking 

We work with you to set short-term and long-term goals, creating a structured plan to help you achieve them step by step. This approach prevents overwhelm and fosters a sense of achievement and momentum. 

Further Education & Training 

We link you with external training providers to help you gain new skills and qualifications, ensuring you are fully prepared for your chosen career path. 

On-the-Job Mentoring 

Our support doesn’t stop once you’re employed. We provide ongoing check-ins to address any challenges, ensuring your employment remains long-term and sustainable. We are involved as much as you need, working with you through every stage to overcome barriers and keep you feeling supported, valued, and empowered to succeed!
